Croatia

So here we are- 1 week away from when we arrive in Kansas City for two weeks of classes at Nazarene Theological Seminary and a time of preparation for Croatia. So much has gone into the trip at this point, while it seems that there is still so much to be done. Please pray that we will be able to get all the necessary items and to apply and receive our visas in time. We have about two months until we leave for Croatia.

So far we have been learning a lot about cross-cultural interactions, partnerships, and what it looks like to minister incarnationally. We’ve also been learning the basics of Croatian. Hopefully, we will be able to speak enough to get by when we first get there and learn more and more as we get into the culture. It’s encouraging to know we are in this together and working side by side others on the journey. We continue to pray that God will go before us and that he will prepare us for what’s ahead. Thanks for being a part of our team.

Reality has struck. It always seems to have this way of crashing into life.  Dreams are becoming reality. Croatia is becoming a reality. We are in the midst of telling our friends, community, and even strangers about our journey to Croatia and it has made reality hit. Not a painful kind of hit,  but as Jerry put, it is much like a roller coaster ride. There are surprises and these twists and turns that we could have never planned but are so blatantly the work of God that I am just thankful for being able to see God’s hand in it all. God is at work all around us. He is at work in what we are doing now, and I have no doubt that He is at work in Croatia. As overwhelming as the whole process has become there is a joy, a deep, genuine joy that comes when I recognize that not only are God’s hands busy at work in my life and the world, but  I suddenly realize that my hands are working along with His. The joy of that realization is almost unexplainable.

So, welcome to our hearts. My hope is that what God has placed in our hearts will become clear to you here.  We want to share our hearts and our journey with you, even now through the waiting season that we are in. Waiting to see God work in our finances and planning,  and waiting to leave our homes, families and friends to start this new adventure in God’s plan. Thank you for joining the adventure. Thank you for being willing to be apart of what God is doing in Croatia.

hello to all!

there is such an exhilerating feeling that swells up in the heart when you’re on the verge of tumbling down into an exciting new adventure–kind of like the tipping point at the top of a roller coster.  you don’t always know everything that will follow once it all begins rushing forward, around and every other direction, but you are sure of one thing–you are held.  that’s kind of like how i feel.

there are so many things that are before us it is impossible to know what they will be.  i can only be sure of one thing–when God calls, He goes with.  nothing….will take that away.  no doubt or assurance, no adversity or triumph, and no lack or abundance will take away the fact that God has called.  He is trusting us.  what a beautiful expression of His love.  we hope that as we begin this journey you as our family will come along beside us as we get our hands dirty in the love of God.
